The 5 Success Principles

The 5 Success Principles

The Web is an entirely different medium than print or broadcast media.   It is organic, connected, interactive and communal.   Your opportunity to get a visitor’s attention is mercilessly brief.  To seize that opportunity, you must entertain, inform and engage him or her.

We believe in - and apply - the follow 5 guiding principles to everything we do.   Call them principles, call them Laws, call them whatever you want.  But if you are a consumer-focused company and want to be successful on the Web, you had better pay attention to them!

1.  Content

Content is king.  This is what drives SEO, viral marketing, viewer engagement and returns.   Real content.  Not fake content factory content.  Your company needs to have a voice, and speak often.

2.  Context

The Web is an Infotainment  medium.   Consumers are happy to be marketed to – as long as it is done in a way that is relevant, informative and entertaining.

3.  Community

This is not just a slogan.   For your Web sites and Mobile Apps to be effective, they must engage and connect to the community of people that love your products and/or services - and ultimately your company – wherever they are.

4.  Personalization

Is a requirement.   Users must be able to personalize their experience, information and services on the MDO sites to make it ‘sticky.’

5.  Interactivity

Above all else, the goal is to get the visitor to interact.  Click further.  Sign-up for an e-mail.   Book a room.   Personalize.  Share.  Connect.  And on and on!

The bottom line is that whether you like it or not, if you deal with consumers, you are now an Interactive Social Media Company.  To actually pull that off requires a lot more than just a new Web site.  It takes a fundamental commitment that will reshape your business.
